Shaykh Hamdi studied Islamic Sciences in a traditional milieu in Tunisia with his Father, a Zaytuna University-trained scholar and Imam. He went on to study with the world-renowned Teacher, Habib ‘Umar, who became Shaykh Hamdi’s Guide.

Shaykh Hamdi serves as the Director of Sanad Collective,

a registered charity dedicated to helping people find spiritual fulfillment by seeking wisdom, nurturing the soul and sharing compassion.

The Rhoda Institute is the Ottawa locale of Sanad Collective, where Shaykh Hamdi serves as Imam, mentor, counsellor, and chaplain. Sanad Collective also has a locale in Montreal, Dar al Muhajir, where weekly gatherings are held and classes offered.

Ustadha Shehnaz has studied with the foremost scholars of Syria, including Anse Tamara Gray. She received her ijāza in the recitation of Quran from the late Shaikh Muḥyī al-Dīn al-Kurdī in 1999. Ustadha Shehnaz has a degree in education from the University of BC; her expertise includes curriculum design and pedagogy from a holistic spiritual perspective. At the Rhoda Institute, Ustadha Shehnaz serves as board member and teacher.
