Shaykh Hamdi studied Islamic Sciences in a traditional milieu in Tunisia with his Father, a Zaytuna University-trained scholar and Imam. He went on to study with the world-renowned Teacher, Habib ‘Umar, who became Shaykh Hamdi’s Guide. Upon granting Shaykh Hamdi degrees in Islamic knowledge, Habib ‘Umar asked Shaykh Hamdi to serve the people of Ottawa.

Shaykh Hamdi is the Director of Sanad Collective, an Ottawa-based non-profit organization dedicated to helping people find spiritual fulfilment and connect to the Divine by seeking wisdom, nurturing the soul and sharing compassion. The Rhoda Institute is a project of Sanad Collective, and a means to facilitate seeking wisdom and nurturing the soul.

Ustadha Shehnaz has studied with the foremost scholars of Syria, including Anse Tamara Gray. She received her ijāza in the recitation of Quran from the late Shaikh Muḥyī al-Dīn al-Kurdī in 1999.
