Shaykh Hamdi studied Islamic Sciences in a traditional milieu in Tunisia with his Father, a Zaytuna University-trained scholar and Imam. He went on to study with the world-renowned Teacher, Habib ‘Umar, who became Shaykh Hamdi’s Guide.

Shaykh Hamdi serves as the Director of Sanad Collectivea registered charity dedicated to helping people find spiritual fulfilment by seeking wisdom, nurturing the soul and sharing compassion.

The Rhoda Institute is the Ottawa locale of Sanad Collective, where Shaykh Hamdi serves as Imam, mentor, counsellor, and chaplain. Sanad Collective also has a locale in Montreal, Dar al Muhajir, where weekly gatherings are held and classes offered.

Shehnaz Karim has studied with the foremost scholars of Syria, including Anse Tamara Gray. She received her degree in the recitation of Quran from the late Shaikh Muḥyī al-Dīn al-Kurdī in 1999.

Shehnaz Karim has a Bachelors in Education from the University of British Columbia and a Masters in Public Administration from the University of Ottawa.
Shehnaz Karim is the National Executive Director of Sanad Collective, and also serves as a chaplain and a scholar in residence at the Rhoda Institute. She teaches and speaks at spiritual retreats and conferences across Canada and internationally.
